Physical screening – Unlocking your body’s potential

Most people that play golf want to improve their game and many agree that a good way to do this is to improve the body. Whether you just need a little more flexibility, more core strength, or better balance, improving your body with golf fitness could be the answer.
Before you begin your golf fitness program the best option is to obtain a golf fitness assessment. A golf fitness assessment is a series of physical screenings which will identify limitations (lack of mobility, flexibility, stability, strength). The anatomical make-up will expose weak areas you may have which will provide the golf fitness instructor and you a very good look at the direction you will need to follow in your golf fitness program.
A credible golf fitness assessment should consist of at least 10 to 15 measurements. Some of these would isolate areas such as:
- posture
- balance
- disassociation of the upper body from the lower
- shoulder rotation
- mid-back range of motion
- glute strength
- core strength
- hip rotation
- hip flexor/hamstring/calf flexibility

One benefit of the golf fitness assessment is the identification of physical limitations you may have that could be causing a flaw in your swing. If you test positive for a certain physical deficiency and have a swing fault and it points to that deficiency, we can attribute that deficiency to the poor mechanics in your swing. Additionally, or could be a product of improper stored movement pattern vs. physical cause.
When it comes to improving your body for a better golf game, you need an up front golf fitness assessment. The blueprint it provides shows your specific needs, and it sets up the game plan that, when performed on a routine basis, in a short period of time (such as 8 weeks.) large improvements can be seen in movement efficiency resulting in increased swing efficiency.
